Why We Don’t Call It “Diagnostics”
At Pensacola A/C & Auto, we’ve moved away from using the term “diagnostics” because it doesn’t fully capture what our technicians actually do. The word diagnostic often makes customers think of simply “hooking up a scanner” to read codes — but in reality, that’s just a small part of the process.
What we perform is Testing, Inspection & Troubleshooting, which better describes the full, hands-on effort required to accurately identify a vehicle’s issue.
This process involves:
- Specialized tools and data interpretation
- Hands-on testing, measurements, and verification
- System inspections, component testing, and mechanical analysis
- Technical research and pattern-failure analysis

How Our Testing Fees Work:
Our Testing, Inspection & Troubleshooting process is tiered by time and complexity, ensuring the right amount of attention is given to your specific concern.
LEVEL 1 – SINGLE ISSUE TESTING, INSPECTION & TROUBLESHOOTING
Up to 1 hour focused on a single concern or system.
Includes complaint verification, visual inspection, basic scan and system checks, and initial testing to confirm the fault.
LEVEL 2 – MULTIPLE ISSUE OR EXTENDED TIME TESTING, INSPECTION & TROUBLESHOOTING
Up to 2 hours for two concerns or one issue requiring extended evaluation.
Includes all Level 1 procedures plus advanced data analysis, expanded system testing, and limited component access or disassembly.
LEVEL 3 – COMPLEX OR MULTI-SYSTEM TESTING, INSPECTION & TROUBLESHOOTING
Up to 3 hours for complex, intermittent, or multi-system concerns.
Includes all Level 1 & 2 procedures plus detailed circuit testing, fluid dye or pressure testing, and cross-system analysis (A/C, drivability, transmission, etc.).
LEVEL 4 – ADVANCED ELECTRICAL & MECHANICAL TESTING, INSPECTION & TROUBLESHOOTING
Up to 4 hours for advanced internal, intermittent, or communication-network issues.
Includes all prior levels plus lab-scope and oscilloscope testing, extended drive-cycle monitoring, data logging, and manufacturer-level diagnostic procedures.
Complimentary 15-Minute “Wrench-Free” Visual Check
For quick preliminary evaluations of visible issues only.
Includes a short test drive, lift inspection, and visible assessment of the reported concern.
(For any further testing or code research, a Level 1 service will be required.)
Additional Notes
- The appropriate level is determined by the technician based on the complexity of the issue.
- Fees are not waived and will not exceed the listed amounts without prior authorization.
- The testing process ensures an accurate diagnosis so you receive a precise repair plan — not assumptions.
